The moving New York Times film “Father Soldier Son”, directed and produced by Catrin Einhorn and Leslye Davis, is available on Netflix.
The intimate portrait follows the Eisch family, a US soldier and his two sons, over a period of ten years. The life of the family changes completely, when the father returns from an mission in Afghanistan severely wounded. By observing the father and his sons growing up during the filming period, the meaning of sacrifice, life’s work and American post war masculinity throughout the generations are examined. The film takes an objective, contemplating attitude and lets its protagonists speak for themselves.
Definitely worth seeing.
