The US science fiction mystery film “The Vast of Night” is a fine little debut film by director Andrew Patterson and is available on Prime Video.
The film is set in the 50’s in New Mexico, where a young switchboard operator and a radio disc jockey discover a mysterious audio frequency that could be extraterrestrial in origin. It’s a love letter to the old times of the telephone and nightly radio talkshows, the silent listening to voices and stories. Patterson and his team skilfully navigate around their financial limits and cameraman M. I. Littin-Menz is to be commended for an impressive one-shot scene.
Cozy and exciting at the same time.
